The Cayuga County Clerk’s office and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) are joining forces with NYS Donate Life for their 16th Annual Organ Donor Month. The campaign will begin on Monday, April 3rd, and will run through April and May. The aim of this year’s campaign is to encourage more people to sign up as organ donors and to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation.
According to the officials, only 46% of adults in New York State have enrolled in the Donate Life registry, which is lower than the 61% of eligible residents signed up in Cayuga County. This campaign aims to bridge this gap and encourage more people to become organ donors.
This year’s theme is “Make a Splash!” and the event will be open to anyone over 18 years of age who wants to sign up as an organ donor. The campaign will take place at the DMV office in the Cayuga County Office Building, located at 160 Genesee Street in Auburn. In addition to sign-ups, local organ donor recipients will also be present to answer any questions that attendees may have.
The event is expected to attract many people who are keen to learn more about organ donation and how they can help save lives. It also presents an opportunity for people to make a difference in the lives of those in need of organ transplants.
