Police: Ithaca man broke into apartment, threatened resident with gun during domestic

Police say they responded to the 100 block of Cherry Street for a harassment complaint on Monday around 7:35 p.m.

Officers made contact with Jaymez Bailey, who was reported to have forced entry into an apartment by kicking, punching, and pushing the door open.

During the investigation it was determined that threats had been made regarding a handgun in Bailey’s possession.

The 23-year-old Ithaca resident was confirmed to be in possession of the handgun and taken into custody.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, as a Class C felony, and criminal trespass, as a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned and will answer the charges at a later date.

Witnesses are encouraged to contact IPD if they have information that could help police with their investigation.
