Volpe looks to be the Yankees’ everyday shortstop following the promotion after he beat out Oswald Peraza and Isiah Kiner-Falefa for the job in spring training. He slashed .314/.417/.647 with a 1.064 OPS in 17 games.
If Volpe does start at shortstop on Opening Day as planned, he will be the youngest Yankee to do it since Derek Jeter in 1996.
