The Geneva community is grieving the loss of varsity football coach Larry Guererri, who passed away unexpectedly on Thursday.
The Geneva Central School District informed district families of the tragic news via an email on Friday. The statement acknowledged Guererri’s contributions to the school community, noting that he had a long history of coaching sports in Geneva and the Finger Lakes region.
In addition to being the head coach of the high school football team, Guererri was also a parent and grandparent of students in the district and a well-known community member. The statement extended the district’s condolences to his family and friends.
Guererri had been the varsity football coach in Geneva since 2021, and his son Konnor played on the team as a junior last season. The Geneva CSD has made its Trauma, Illness, and Grief Team available to students and staff. Details about services for Guererri are forthcoming.
