Auburn Smoke Shop shuts down following complaints, raid, and arrests

The Auburn Smoke Shop located at 67 Franklin Street has closed, following numerous complaints, a raid, and an attempted robbery. It appears that the smoke shop has shut its doors for good.

In February 2022, a raid was conducted, and over 18,000 illegal items were seized from the shop, including marijuana, untaxed cigarettes, and flavored vape products. As a result of the raid, the shop’s owner, Mahamad Algamal, and property manager, Zakarya Alharbi, were arrested.

Earlier, in December 2021, the Nuisance Abatement Committee had scheduled a hearing to address the complaints, but it was tabled as the smoke shop was set to vacate the property in February.

A hearing was again scheduled for March, but with the store’s apparent closure, the hearing was not held.
