The Buffalo Sabres are still mathematically alive in the Eastern Conference Wild Card race, but their playoff hopes are all but over.
Buffalo suffered a third straight loss on Sunday afternoon after getting blanked by the Boston Bruins 7-0.
The Sabres outshot the Bruins 26-25 but went 0-for-4 on the power play and could not capitalize on offense. Jack Quinn created the best scoring chances and finished with a team-high four shots on goal.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 18-of-25 shots but should have definitely made a few more saves despite the defense being absolutely atrocious.
The Sabres will try to get back in the win column on Tuesday when they host the Nashville Predators at 7 p.m.
