The Newark Reds’ quest for a state title came to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 63-36 loss to the Westhill Warriors in the New York State Class B Semifinal at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls.
Newark fell into an early hole and could not climb their way out of it as turnovers and a lack of scoring really hurt them. It was just a 10-point game after three quarters but things unraveled in the final eight minutes and the Reds’ season ended.
The Reds were led by Kellen Foster, who knocked down a pair of three-pointers and finished with 10 points. Brayden Steve netted seven points, all of which came in the second half. Jaypar Allen poured in six, and Raeshawn Howard added five.
Re-listen to the game: Jim Sinicropi and Tim Casselman had the call on FL1 Radio.
Newark finished the season with a 21-5 record and claimed their 14th sectional title in program history.
