Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a small but dedicated group of community members, has made significant contributions to the hospital and The Homestead at Soldiers & Sailors, despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the group raised $2,000 through several successful fundraising projects and donated it to the Finger Lakes Health Foundation. The donation was used to purchase a new cardiac defibrillator/monitor for the Medic 55 ALS vehicle, which serves all of Yates County.
Recently, the Auxiliary made another generous donation of $3,000 to purchase a new Cardiac Ultrasound system at Soldiers & Sailors. This vital piece of equipment will serve many patients and provide essential information for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease.
The donation holds particular significance as it serves as a continuing legacy to Sylvia Eisenhart, long-time Auxiliary President, who recently passed away. Sylvia was a visionary leader, a stalwart volunteer, and a cheerleader for many community organizations.
Helen Kelley, Director of Development for the Finger Lakes Health Foundation, expressed gratitude for the Auxiliary’s dedication to the mission of Soldiers & Sailors and The Homestead. Kelley hopes that others in the community will follow the Auxiliary’s example and become involved in efforts to ensure that all have access to high-quality, local healthcare.
The Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has demonstrated that a small group of committed individuals can make a significant difference in their community. Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, the Auxiliary has continued to raise funds and provide critical support to the hospital and The Homestead. Their generosity serves as an inspiration to others and a testament to the power of community.
