Democrat Steve Valentino didn’t receive the backing of his own party for the upcoming election, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be on the ballot in November.
City Republicans endorsed Valentino, who is still planning a primary challenge against Jan Regan, who was selected by Democrats.
The Finger Lakes Times first reported the news that Valentino had been endorsed by Republicans.
“This isn’t an ‘us against them’ issue. This is a ‘what is best for Geneva’ issue. The party interviewed me and we are aligned on the future of Geneva,” Valentino told the FLT.
The incumbent says he remains focused on the future of Geneva.
