GIRLS BASKETBALL: Waterloo headed back to NYS Class B Final with win over Cortland

The Waterloo Tigers are headed back to the New York State Class B Final for the second straight year and the third time since 2013.

Waterloo (25-1) used another dominant third-quarter run to take down the Cortland Purple Tigers (21-5), 73-50, on Friday morning at Hudson Valley Community College.

After being outscored 23-17 in the second quarter and trailing by one at halftime, Waterloo came out of the locker room and absolutely dominated. They went on a 30-8 run to take a commanding 21-point lead into the final eight minutes and cruised to victory.

Morgan Caraballo led four Tigers in double figures with a game-high 18 points. Natalie Disanto netted 15 points, with 13 coming in the second half. Jazzmyn Lewis poured in 15 and Addison Bree added 14, with 12 coming behind the arc. Maci Mueller hit a pair of three-pointers in the first half and finished with six points.

Waterloo will try to win their first state title on Saturday when they take on the Putnam Valley Tigers (26-1) at 5:15 p.m. Nate and Paul will have the call again live on FL1 Radio.
