The Throop Fire Department recently received a call from a homeowner about their missing dog, Mary, who had been lost since 4 p.m. on Monday.
The homeowner believed Mary was in a swampy area with high grass and thick mud, prompting the fire department to take immediate action.
Upon arriving on the scene, Car 2 established command, and the crew went to work searching the marshy area along a creek bed near Turnpike Road and McDonald Road. After about an hour of searching, the crew located Mary and happily reunited her with her owner.
Mary, a Saint Bernard, was alive and well, and member and fire commissioner Jamie Northrup walked her back to her home. The homeowner expressed gratitude for the fire department’s quick response and hard work in finding their beloved pet.
