The Buffalo Sabres’ (32-28-5, 69 points) playoff hopes are on thin ice as they dropped their fourth straight game with a 2-1 overtime loss to the New York Rangers (37-19-9, 83 points) on Saturday night at KeyBank Center.
Artemi Panarin netted the game-winner for the Rangers on the power play after Rasmus Dahlin received a two-minute penalty for hooking.
Jeff Skinner scored the lone goal for Sabres in the second period, his 29th of the season. Tage Thompson notched his 85th point with an assist. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 24 saves.
The Sabres will open a three-game road trip on Monday when they head to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs at 7:30 p.m.
