Yankees’ Harrison Bader suffers oblique strain, could start season on Injured List

Another New York Yankee is likely headed to the Injured List.

Manager Aaron Boone told reporters Friday morning that centerfielder Harrison Bader suffered a left oblique injury during a spring-training at-bat on Wednesday. No timeline for his return has been provided yet, but with less than three weeks to go until Opening Day, it’s safe to say he will be placed on the Injured List.

New York will also be without Carlos Rodón, Frankie Montas, Tommy Kahnle, and Lou Trivino.

The Yankees acquired Bader in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals at last year’s trade deadline. The 28-year-old hit .217/.245/.283 with nine RBI in 14 regular season games with New York. He hit five home runs and drove in six runs in nine postseason games.
