Deputies: Corning man possessed loaded gun, intended to cause serious injury

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says a Corning man is in custody after a serious incident.


On March 7th deputies arrested 38-year-old Shawn R. Mosko of Park Avenue, Corning, New York, for allegedly possessing a loaded firearm with the intent to use it unlawfully against another person in the City of Corning.

It is further alleged that Mosko intended to cause serious physical injury with the weapon.

Additionally, Mosko was wanted on an arrest warrant for falsifying a vehicle identification number. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C Felony, first-degree attempted assault, also a class C Felony, and altering a VIN.


Mosko appeared in Centralized Arraignment Court and is being held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard expressed gratitude to the City of Corning Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
