The Waterloo Tigers (23-1) faced unfamiliar territory as they trailed by 10 points at halftime, but they rallied back and secured a 48-38 victory over the Hornell Red Raiders (15-9) on Tuesday night at Penn Yan High School to advance to the NYS Class B Far West Regional. They will face the Section VI representative Southwestern or Depew at Buffalo State on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Once again, Waterloo absolutely dominated the second half. They outscored Hornell 16-3 in the third quarter and 15-8 in the final eight minutes.
Freshman Addison Bree knocked down five three-pointers and finished with a game-high 15 points to lead the Tigers. She netted nine points in the third quarter alone. Natalie Disanto also finished in double figures as she poured in 13. Jazzmyn Lewis added seven and played exceptionally well on the defensive end.
Re-listen to the game: Nate Sharman and Paul Russo had the call on FL1 Radio.
With the win, Waterloo improved to 81-5 over the past four seasons.
