Teen arrested second time for stealing vehicle, this time crashing it, and again released on appearance tickets

Over the weekend there was another incident involving a stolen vehicle in Rochester. There have been dozens in recent weeks.

The police were called to investigate a crash at around 8:40 p.m. involving a stolen Kia. While no one was injured, two individuals inside the vehicle fled the scene before being caught by the officers.

The two boys, aged 15 and 16, were taken into custody and later issued appearance tickets before being released. Police reports indicate that the 16-year-old was detained by RPD two weeks ago during another incident involving a stolen Hyundai. He was also released with an appearance ticket.

The incidents highlight the ongoing issue of stolen vehicles in the city. Law enforcement agencies are urging residents to take extra precautions, such as parking their vehicles in well-lit areas and never leaving them running unattended. Anyone with information on these incidents is encouraged to contact the Rochester Police Department immediately.
