Geneva man charged with manslaughter after investigation into death of 2-year-old

Police say a Geneva man has been arrested after causing the death of a 2-year-old boy.

On Friday, March 3rd the Geneva Police Department’s Uniformed Division apprehended Jarrid B. Mix, 23, on an Ontario County Indictment Warrant for first- and second-degree manslaughter.


The investigation into the death of a 2-year-old boy on September 8th, 2022, began with the Geneva Police Department’s Detective Bureau, assisted by Ontario County Child Protective Services. It was discovered that while the child was under the suspect’s care, he suffered severe internal injuries to his torso and abdominal area. The injuries ultimately resulted in the child’s death. According to authorities, Mix caused the child’s injuries.


The investigation was conducted with the help of multiple agencies, including the Ontario County Attorney’s Office, the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office, the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office, the University of Rochester, and the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes.

The arrest of Mix comes as a result of extensive efforts by law enforcement and child welfare agencies to investigate and bring to justice those responsible for the death of the 2-year-old boy.
