GIRLS BASKETBALL: Waterloo captures third consecutive sectional title

For the third consecutive season and ninth time in program history, the Waterloo Tigers have captured a sectional title.

The top-seeded Tigers (22-1) used a dominant third quarter to roll past the two-seeded Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders (19-4), 65-47, in the Section V Class B1 Final on Saturday afternoon at Rush-Henrietta High School.

It was a tight game in the first half as each team traded leads, and Pal-Mac held a 26-25 advantage at the break. However, the second half was a completely different story. Waterloo went on a 25-2 run in the third quarter and never looked back as they ran away with it.

Re-listen to the game: Nate Sharman and Paul Russo had the call on FL1 Radio.

Morgan Caraballo led three Tigers in double figures with 22 points and was named the tournament MVP. Jazzmyn Lewis netted 17, and Natalie Disanto poured in 10. Taryn Goodness and Georgia Wirth led the Red Raiders with 10 points apiece. Molly Seither, Marianna Hodgins, and Erika Mitchell each added nine.

Waterloo will play the Class B2 champion Hornell in the NYS Class C Far West Regional Qualifier on Tuesday.
