It was business as usual in the days that followed Friday’s shooting investigation at Destiny USA.
The scene was vastly different from Friday’s chaotic and frightening experience. The mall was crowded with shoppers on Saturday afternoon, despite the mall’s closure early the previous day after a gunshot was fired inside the mall around 4 p.m. on Friday.
The single bullet hit a trash can near Destiny’s central tower, towards the middle of the mall, leading to a call for evacuation. Police shut the mall down early for the night. However, shoppers didn’t stay away for long, as many returned to the mall the next day.
Many shoppers reinforced that the incident was an isolated one, and they did not plan to stop shopping at the mall because of it.
Despite the scare on Friday, shoppers are optimistic and have confidence in the safety of Destiny USA. The mall has an assortment of family-oriented activities and retail stores that make it a welcoming and comfortable environment, according to shoppers.
