Citing his health former sheriff and Cayuga County Legislature Chair David Gould says he won’t run for re-election.
Speaking with The Auburn Citizen, Gould said ‘enough is enough’ when asked about the thought process that got him to the final decision. “I’ve done my two-year term and I got some health problems,” he added.
Gould quickly threw his support in the newly drawn 4th district by supporting Republican Robert Shea. Democrats have already endorsed James Moore to run in that district, so a contested race is a certainty this November.
This won’t be the end of Gould’s service to the community. He told The Citizen that he plans to stay involved in community boards and projects throughout his retirement.
