A violent attack outside the Newark Library left a high school student with facial injuries and a concussion, according to a statement from the library.
The incident occurred on Thursday, February 9th, and was recorded on social media.
In the video, two teens are seen taking a vape pipe from another teen, then making him do push-ups to get it back. Suddenly, the victim is punched in the head and then kicked while on the ground.
The attackers are shown calmly walking away into the library. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, including surgery for a double broken nose.
The two attackers have been charged with felony assault and turned over for Family Court action due to their ages. The video has since been taken down.
The library has stated that safety is a top priority and is working with the police department to maintain a safe space for all patrons. Anyone with questions or concerns can contact the Assistant Director or Library Director.
