First responders from Clyde were called to a brush fire along the New York State Thruway on Tuesday.
The call came in around 10 a.m., according to firefighters. The caller stated an uncontrolled fire was spreading toward the Thruway around mile-marker 315.
Crews found a fire burning on both sides of a fence and flames moving toward the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge.
The fire was quickly extinguished and cleaned up by local firefighters.
