Deputies: Virginia man arrested for welfare fraud in Seneca County

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Virginia man following a welfare fraud investigation.

Deputies arrested Breon D. Jones, a 27-year-old resident of Centerville, Virginia, on charges of welfare fraud and misuse of food stamps.

According to a statement issued by the Sheriff’s office on February 11th, Jones had received benefits worth over $3,000 that he was not entitled to. Jones was charged with one count of welfare fraud in the third degree.

The investigation revealed that Jones failed to disclose his paid employment while applying for benefits, which led to his ineligibility for the benefits. Jones was arrested by investigators and subsequently released on appearance tickets. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Waterloo Court on February 22nd, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.
