Fresh Ideation Food Group, a Baltimore-based food manufacturer, has issued a recall of over 400 food products sold in multiple states along the Eastern Seaboard due to potential listeria contamination. The recall includes a range of ready-made entrées, snacks, breakfast sandwiches, salads, wraps, fruit cups, and parfaits that were sold in vending machines and retail locations in 10 states. The products have a fresh-through or sell-through date between January 31st and February 6th.
The recall was initiated after the company discovered listeria in their facility during routine monitoring. Fresh Ideation Food Group issued the recall out of an abundance of caution, and so far no illnesses have been reported. Listeria is a serious foodborne illness that can impact pregnant individuals, their babies, immunocompromised people, and adults over the age of 65.
Symptoms of listeria infection include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea, and individuals who may have consumed the affected products are advised to monitor their health. A full list of the recalled products can be found on the FDA’s website.
The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but an automated message on their customer service line provided some details about the recall. Fresh Ideation Food Group’s focus remains on providing safe and quality food products, and they have taken immediate action to resolve this situation and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
