The village of Penn Yan is replacing its water main on Main Street, from Elm to Clinton Streets, in an ongoing effort to update its aging infrastructure.
The project will be divided into two phases, beginning with Elm Street to Maiden Lane. The road will be closed for the first phase, which is expected to last 4-6 weeks. However, the road will be opened for through traffic during weekends. NYSEG will also replace the gas mains within the sidewalk during the first phase.
The second phase, from Maiden Lane to Clinton Street, will not require a full road closure and will be opened to one lane of traffic. The entire project is expected to be completed in 6-8 weeks, starting in April.
Updates on the project can be found on the Village of Penn Yan Department of Public Works Facebook page and website. The village encourages any questions to be directed to Melissa Gerhardt or Brett McMichael at 315-536-3374.
