A fire broke out at the Cortland Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram dealership in Cortland during the early-morning hours on Friday.
The Cortlandville Fire Department received a call at 3 a.m. and upon arriving at the scene, they were met with heavy fire in the auto service shop. Due to the size of the fire, firefighters attacked the fire from the outside and were able to bring it under control in about an hour with the help of six other departments.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Vehicles that were inside the auto shop were a total loss, but the fire was contained to the auto shop with the office area and showroom sustaining smoke damage.
Route 281 between McLean and Luker Roads was closed for more than three hours but has since been reopened.
