Disgraced reality TV stars Julie and Todd Chrisley sentenced to prison for tax evasion and fraud

Julie Chrisley, a former reality TV star, will serve her prison sentence in Lexington, Kentucky following her conviction in a federal tax evasion case. She was scheduled to report to the Federal Medical Center in Lexington by noon on Tuesday and her name appeared on the facility’s roster by Wednesday morning. It is unclear why she was rerouted to this Kentucky facility instead of the federal prison camp in Florida where her husband Todd Chrisley is serving his 12-year sentence.

The Chrisleys, stars of the show “Chrisley Knows Best”, portrayed themselves as real estate tycoons but were found guilty in June of tax evasion and defrauding banks out of over $30 million in fraudulent loans. These loans funded their luxurious lifestyle which included designer brand clothes, luxury cars, and real estate such as two mansions in Nashville, Tennessee, worth about $9 million. Julie Chrisley was also convicted of obstruction of justice and wire fraud.

It is a significant downfall for the Chrisleys who had a successful reality TV show that ran for seven seasons and showcased their extravagant lifestyle. They were known for their lavish spending and flamboyant personalities. However, their legal troubles started in 2019 when they were indicted on multiple federal charges, including tax evasion, bank fraud, and conspiracy. They pleaded not guilty to all the charges but were found guilty in June 2020.

The Chrisleys are currently appealing their conviction, but as of now, Julie Chrisley will serve her prison time at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington. The prison’s website describes it as an “administrative security federal medical center with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp.” The fate of the Chrisleys and their popular TV show remains uncertain as they serve their sentence.
