On Thursday, first responders were called to a serious accident at the intersection of North Meadow Street and West State Street in Ithaca.

Ithaca Police Officers were able to quickly locate and arrest a person matching the description of the fleeing driver near the intersection of W Court St. and Washington St. Further investigation revealed that the person apprehended was the driver who had fled the scene.

The driver who fled the scene was issued citations for several violations of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, including leaving the scene of a accident and aggravated unlicensed operation.

The identities of the drivers involved have not been released to the public. The Sheriff Deputy involved in the accident was evaluated and released from medical care.
