Finger Lakes Land Trust acquisition will help ensure long-term health of Owasco Watershed

The Finger Lakes Land Trust has announced the addition of 160 acres of land in the Owasco Lake Watershed to its conservation efforts.

The trust has accepted a donation of a conservation easement on the farmland located in the Town of Scipio from local residents Barbara Post and her five siblings, Roger, Marilyn, Ken, Nancy, and Linda.

The donated land consists of agricultural fields and a stream that flows into Owasco Lake. The property will remain in private hands, but the conservation easement will ensure that the land remains undeveloped, protecting the health of the lake.

The Finger Lakes Land Trust is dedicated to protecting over 29,000 acres of land in the region. This latest addition to its conservation efforts will help to ensure the long-term preservation of the Owasco Lake Watershed and the surrounding area.
