Mega Millions jackpot climbs to second-largest ever after another drawing with no winner

The Mega Millions jackpot has reached a staggering $1.35 billion, making it the second-highest in the game’s history.

The numbers drawn on Tuesday night were 7, 13, 14, 15, 18, and the gold Mega Ball 9, however, there were no winners of the prize.

This prize would be a milestone in the game, with only one jackpot in the past being larger, the $1.53 billion prize won in South Carolina in 2018. The largest jackpot in the U.S. to date was a $2.04 billion Powerball won by a single ticket in California in November.

The $1.35 billion jackpot would only be distributed to a winner who chooses an annuity paid over 29 years, but nearly all grand prize winners opt for a cash payout, which for Friday’s drawing is an estimated $707.9 million.

This is the 25th drawing that has occurred over the past three months without a winner, yet players continue to purchase tickets as the grand prize grows. Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, despite its long odds of 1 in 302.6 million.
