Two individuals who were out snowmobiling in Colorado met with tragedy on Saturday when they were caught in an avalanche on Mount Epworth, located approximately 6 miles east of Winter Park, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC).
The incident occurred at around 2 p.m., and one of the victims, a 58-year-old man, was discovered by another group on the mountain. Despite efforts to revive the individual through CPR, the person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to ABC News.
Emergency search teams later located the body of the second victim, a 52-year-old man from northern Colorado, on Sunday. Both bodies were transferred to the Grand County Coroner’s Office, where they will be formally identified and the official cause of death will be confirmed. The CAIC warned that dangerous avalanche conditions persisted as of Sunday evening.
