Authorities say one person is in custody after catalytic converter thefts in Livingston County.

A 27-year-old man from Wayland, Stephen R. Zeh, was taken into custody on December 13th on suspicion of theft after reportedly stealing catalytic converters in North Dansville, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to a business on McWhorter Road after receiving a report of stolen catalytic converters.

Upon investigation, Zeh was identified as the suspect. He is accused of cutting the catalytic converters off vehicles in the parking lot and taking them.

Zeh has been charged with auto stripping, criminal mischief, and petit larceny, but was released on his own recognizance as the charges did not meet the criteria for bail to be set.
