Arc of Ontario receives $41,377 from NYSARC program

The Arc Ontario has received $41,377 in grants from NYSARC Trust Services to support its guardianship and recreation programs.

NYSARC Trust Services administers trusts that can improve the lives of people with disabilities by allowing them to maintain financial eligibility for government benefit programs.

This year, Ontario received $24,000 to provide guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or other challenges who do not have a legal guardian or advocate. The guardianship program, which is supported by Chapter staff and community volunteers, currently provides guardianship to two individuals and is ready to assist eight more as standby or alternate standby guardians.

NYSARC Trust Services also awarded The Arc Ontario $17,337 to support new recreational opportunities for the 109 individuals living in its residential homes. The funds were used for activities such as arts and crafts, holiday parties, and community outings to events such as baseball games, car races, and trips to the zoo.

Overall, NYSARC Trust Services has awarded a total of $3,189,968 to The Arc New York Chapters statewide for 2022.
