The New York Yankees have a new captain.
Owner Hal Steinbrenner announced Aaron Judge as the team’s captain during a press conference at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday after he signed a nine-year, $360 million contract to stay in the Bronx.
“This is an incredible honor that I don’t take lightly,” the 2022 MVP said.
Judge is the 16th captain in franchise history and the first since Hall of Famer Derek Jeter, who retired in 2014.
