New law means New York parents won’t have to work to access state subsidized childcare

Governor Kathy Hochul gave the final blessing to a measure that will increase child care access in New York.

The new law will mean parents won’t have to work to access state-subsidized child care programs.

Advocates praised the move – calling it a simplification that would help New Yorkers across the board.

The state is also working to expand child care access and eligibility. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed massive gaps in child care service and access across New York.
