Macedon Police Chief Fabian Rivera is on unpaid leave until further notice.
Town officials say the leave is voluntary while an investigation into an incident last week is completed.
The Town Board and Town Supervisor did not provide any additional information about the situation.
Rivera was officially named chief earlier this year.
