After losing defensive coordinator Tony White to Nebraska last week, Syracuse has found his replacement.
Rocky Long, the creator of the 3-3-5 defensive scheme, was hired on Saturday.
Long, 72, served as the defensive coordinator at the University of New Mexico for the last three years. He has over 50 years of coaching experience, with 20 as a head coach.
“I’m excited to be here and to get to work,” Long said in a news release. “I’m grateful for my time at New Mexico and the chance to work with Coach Gonzales again these past few years, but looking forward to this new opportunity here in Syracuse.”
