Wayne inches closer to county run EMS with transition of Lyons Town Ambulance

Wayne County is moving forward with its plan for a county run emergency medical services agency. That detail was sorted out months ago.

However, the first major change in the EMS world there involves converting the Lyons Town Ambulance service to Wayne County.

The town service will cease operation on June 30th, 2023, according to reporting by the Finger Lakes Times. On July 1st, 2023 service will convert over to the County’s operation. They will lease the Lyons Town Ambulance space until their permanent home is open near Route 31.

Officials say the Lyons Town Ambulance location is going to play a pivotal role, because it will allow the county to move forward.

Town officials in Lyons say having the service there will be a cost savings to taxpayers. While they tried to make the Lyons Town Ambulance a break-even agency it wasn’t possible.
