Why don’t more people recycle?
According to a survey from the World Economic Forum, three-quarters of the world’s population believes that recycling is important.
However, research found that recycling is too confusing and overwhelming to implement it into their daily life.
Here in the U.S., the report found that 94% of people support recycling. Around 74% say it should be a top-priority.
Yet the #1 reason why people don’t recycle, according to the survey, is lack of convenience and access.
The main confusion is determining what’s recyclable, or receiving mixed messaging about what can be recycled. Advocates say state and federal agencies need to do more to make access and convenience a priority.
However, not all of the news is bad when it comes to the report. More than half of respondents said when making purchases they choose products with less packaging as possible.
