Sabres’ Tage Thompson named NHL’s Second Star of the Week

The NHL announced Monday that Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson has been named the league’s Second Star of the Week.

He is the third Sabres player to receive Star of the Week honors this season, joining Rasmus Dahlin and Dylan Cozens.

Thompson tallied seven points over three games, which was tied for the most in the NHL. He scored five goals and recorded six points against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Thompson and Dave Andreychuk are the only players in Sabres history to record five goals in a single game, and he and Pat LaFontaine are the only players in franchise history to record multiple six-point games in the same season.

The 25-year-old leads the team with 21 goals and 41 points through 28 games.
