Police in Ithaca say a Rochester man was taken into custody after a violent domestic incident in the city over the weekend.
On Saturday, December 10th around 2 a.m. police were dispatched to a location on State Street. While officers were responding they were told that the male may be in possession of a firearm.

Once officers arrived and attempted to apprehend him, a foot pursuit ensued. A perimeter was established with the help of other law enforcement and Voshon Carpenter, age 28, was taken into custody.
The 28-year-old was arrested on two felony weapons charges, as well as an assault and obstruction charge. He was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Police said Carpenter is a convicted felon who did not have a valid pistol permit.
He will appear in city court on the charges at a later date.
