If you’re sending gifts through the mail this year deadlines are fast-approaching.
The United Postal Service says the time is ‘now’ to get packages in the mail so they arrive by Christmas.
“Since 2021, we’ve installed 249 additional package sorting machines across the country. This year alone we installed 137 of those. With those increased package sorters that we now have we increased our capacity to fifty-three million to sixty million packages a day,” USPS Communications Specialist Mark Lawrence recently said.
So, when is the last day to get things in the mail?
December 17th is the last day USPS recommends to mail out letters, cards, or send major items through. Priority mail should be sent out December 19th. Priority Mail Express should be in the mail by December 23rd if it’s eligible.
Another thing everyone can do to help the holiday package process?
Keep your mailbox free of debris. Don’t park any vehicles in front of your mailbox. And if the snow starts to fly – make sure it’s cleared out. USPS officials also would like pet owners to be mindful that they will not deliver if dogs are loose on the property.
