Sabres forward Jeff Skinner suspended three games for illegal cross-check

The Buffalo Sabres will be without one of their top goal scorers for the next three games.

The National Hockey League announced Saturday that forward Jeff Skinner has received a three-game suspension for cross-checking Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel late in Friday’s 4-3 overtime loss at KeyBank Center.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Skinner will forfeit $145,945.95. The money goes to the Players Emergency Assistance Fund.

Skinner will be eligible to return Saturday, December 17, when the Sabres take on the Arizona Coyotes.
