Sabres fall to Penguins, 3-1

The Buffalo Sabres (12-14-2) were unable to bounce back from Friday’s loss as they fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins (16-8-4), 3-1, on Saturday night at PPG Paints Arena.

Buffalo fell into an early 2-0 hole and could not climb out of it despite several high-quality scoring chances in the second and third periods.

Peyton Krebs netted the Sabres’ lone goal, his second of the season, halfway through the final period. Kyle Okposo and Casey Fitzerald collected assists. Ukko-Pekka Liukkonen stopped 28-of-31 shots.

Buffalo finished 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Sabres will try to snap their two-game skid on Tuesday when they host the Los Angeles Kings at 7 p.m.
