Deputies: Dundee man’s guns classified as ‘assault weapons’ after sheriff’s investigation

Deputies say a Dundee man was arrested on a waepons charge following an investigation that began in the summer.

On July 13th a temporary order of protection was issued against Brandon Thompson, age 38, of Dundee.

Deu to the order deputies were asked to secure all firearms owned and posseessed by Thompson.


While securing the firearms, two were found to meet the state’s definition of an ‘assault weapon’. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office did not disclose why more than five months lapsed between the initial incident and subsequent arrest.
