More positive change in the village of Newark is on the way.
The Newark Garden Hotel has been acquired by EJC Hotels.

The New York City-based hotel and resort company plans to spend $10 million to redevelop the property.
Work should get going in the spring, according to developers and village officials. They say the property won’t be recognizable once complete.
Among the major changes will be the addition of a third floor, which will accommodate short-term rentals and apartments. The goal is for that to help drive business when traditional hotel occupancy drops in the winter.
The goal is for the property to be reopened by summer. It currently has 107 rooms.
