Senator Raphael Warnock, a Democrat, has won against his opponent, Republican Herschel Walker, in Georgia.
According to the Associated Press, Democrats will now have the Senate majority by 51-49. This shifted from the 50-50 split beforehand. As for the House, Republicans have narrowly flipped it.
The votes had been close between Warnock and Walker, but Warnock took the win after two former girlfriends of Walker’s came forward. The ex-NFL star allegedly paid for their abortions in the past despite being very vocal about his support for a nationwide abortion ban.
Walker is also an ally and supporter of former President Donald Trump, who had struggled like many others in his position to win the election.
