It didn’t take long for the New York Mets to strike a deal at the Winter Meetings.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Mets have signed veteran right-hander Justin Verlander to a two-year, $86 million contract with a third-year vesting option.
This move comes two days after Jacob deGrom signed a five-year, $185 million contract with the Texas Rangers.
Verlander is coming off another CY Young season. The 39-year-old posted a 1.75 ERA over 175 innings while striking out 185 batters. He also helped the Houston Astros win the 2022 World Series.
