The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team (4-4) held on for a 62-61 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-2) at the Joyce Center on Saturday afternoon, snapping a three-game skid.

Notre Dame led 61-60 with 23 seconds remaining in regulation. After a timeout by Syracuse, Judah Mintz laid one in off the glass, putting the Orange back on top with 13.3 seconds left. The Fighting Irish attempted a three-pointer at the buzzer, but it went off the top of the rim, and Syracuse secured the much-needed win.

Jesse Edwards and Joe Girard combined for 42 of the team’s 62 points. Edwards scored 22 and grabbed 14 rebounds, recording his third double-double of the season. Girard, who had scored just nine points in his previous three games, netted 20.
