Man taken to hospital after being rescued in Watkins Glen, threatening law enforcement

One person was taken to the hospital in Watkins Glen after a disturbance in a wooded area.

Deputies and EMS personnel responded to an area of South Franklin and Fairgrounds streets for a person in distress.

Responding units found a man standing up on the bank of a creek between Route 414 and South Franklin. The man sat down in a ravine above the falls, and was later identified as the subject involved in an incident a few days earlier.

While talking with officers, the unidentified person displayed a knife and threatened officers. The man dropped the knife and police took him into custody.

The man was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation.
